Officials in New York are cracking down on bottle deposit fraud they say costs the state millions of dollars each year.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation this week announced a statewide multi-agency effort to help prevent returnable container schemes that defraud the state. This new effort will help uncover practices that prevent bottles and cans without deposits from being redeemed.
